The End of Men

A Holistic Look at “The End of Men”: Conversation Between Dr. Joe Jukic & Erica Carmen

In the quiet light of late afternoon at Namaste Wellness, the East Vancouver clinic is filled with the scent of fresh rosemary and nettle tea. Crystals catch the sun on the windowsill. A well-worn notebook sits open on the table between Dr. Joe Jukic and Erica Carmen, holistic nurse and longtime collaborator. On the screen between them is the trailer for Tucker Carlson’s 2022 documentary The End of Men.

Erica: Joe, I finally sat down with that documentary everyone’s been whispering about—The End of Men. Tucker Carlson looks straight into the camera and says testosterone is collapsing, sperm counts are plummeting, and modern life is quietly erasing masculinity. I felt both recognition and a little resistance. What did you see?

Dr. Joe Jukic: I saw a man pointing at a real fire, even if some of the water he offered to put it out was questionable. The data is not fabricated, Erica. Average testosterone levels in men have been drifting downward for decades. Sperm counts in Western countries have fallen roughly fifty percent since the 1970s. That is not a conspiracy theory—that is laboratory data. When a culture’s men lose vitality, the whole culture feels it. Carlson simply said the quiet part out loud.

Erica: He leans hard into the cultural angle—soy, screens, soft living, the “feminization” of everything. But then the camera cuts to a man standing there with red light shining on his… well, you know. Testicle tanning. Raw egg nationalist philosophy. I almost spilled my tea.

Dr. Joe Jukic: Smiles gently, stirring his cup. The red-light scene is pure theater, and theater rarely heals. There is preliminary research on photobiomodulation and mitochondrial function, but aiming a lamp at the scrotum is not a protocol I would ever write. The body does not respond well to spectacle. What it does respond to is consistent, humble care.

The real story is quieter and more powerful. Men are sleeping less, moving less, eating more seed oils and ultra-processed food, carrying more visceral fat, and bathing daily in endocrine-disrupting chemicals from plastics, receipts, and personal-care products. Cortisol stays high. Zinc and vitamin D stay low. The hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis slowly dims the lights. That is the “end of men” that actually matters.

Erica: So if a man walks into our clinic after watching that documentary, frightened and angry, what do we actually give him?

Dr. Joe Jukic: First, we give him permission to care about his own vitality without apology. Then we give him the foundations:

  • Real food: pasture-raised eggs (yes, the yolks), grass-fed meats, oily fish, organ meats, colorful vegetables, and enough healthy saturated fat to make hormones.
  • Zinc-rich foods every day—oysters when possible, pumpkin seeds, grass-fed beef.
  • Strength training three to four times a week. Heavy compound movements. Muscle is a hormone factory.
  • Sleep in a dark, cool room. Testosterone is largely made while we sleep.
  • Morning sunlight on the skin and eyes. Circadian rhythm is non-negotiable.
  • Ruthless reduction of plastics and synthetic fragrances.
  • Stress that has an off-switch—walking in the forest, cold water, real prayer or meditation, brotherhood.

We measure. We look at free testosterone, SHBG, estradiol, vitamin D, ferritin, and fasting insulin. We do not guess. And we never promise that a red light or a raw-egg challenge will replace the patient work of rebuilding a body.

Erica: I like that. Carlson diagnoses a cultural illness. We treat the actual physiology. One is loud. The other is lasting.

Dr. Joe Jukic: Exactly. The documentary is useful as a wake-up call. It is incomplete as a treatment plan. True masculine vitality is not recovered by tanning one’s testicles or raging at the culture. It is recovered the same way every other form of health is recovered—by removing what harms and restoring what heals. Food, movement, sleep, sunlight, community, purpose. The body still knows how to make a man. We just have to stop interfering and start cooperating.

Erica: Sets her cup down, eyes bright. Then let’s write the protocol. Not the theatrical one. The one that actually works.

Dr. Joe Jukic: Already writing it in my head. We’ll call it “The Quiet Restoration of Men.” No cameras. No spectacle. Just results.
